Members of the Des Moines Area Black Chamber strive to recognize, promote and improve the black business community, and to that end agree to be bound by the standards set forth in this, our Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.
Members recognize that membership is a privilege and that a membership brings with it the responsibility to assure that all members understand and commit to the following code of conduct and ethics. The code of conduct and ethics shall, without limitation, require members to:
- Conduct business with honesty, integrity, and fairness with respect to customers, clients, and employees alike
- Observe the highest standards of ethics in rendering services and/or offering products for sale, based on the members’ own knowledge and expertise
- Be accessible and accountable to customers or clients, and make every reasonable effort to act with the customer's or client's best interest and benefit in mind
- Will not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, familial status, age, disability, or gender
- Refrain from engaging in any practices prohibited by law or seeking unfair advantage over fellow members
- Be responsible at all times for truthful and non-deceptive advertising and promotion regarding the business and its products and/or services
- Not use or condone advertising which is untrue, misleading, deceptive, fraudulent, falsely disparaging of competitors, or which contains insincere offers to sell, nor advertising which, as a whole, may be misleading or result in misrepresentation by direct statement, inference or omission
- Conduct business with strict adherence to the laws of Iowa and to the business of professional codes existent for the particular business or profession and in accordance with generally accepted business practices
- Refrain from publicly disparaging the business practices of fellow members and refrain from condoning or engaging in misrepresentation or unethical practices
- Support the ideals and goals of the organization, as well as support the black community in general, in a constructive and positive manner
- Abide by the Mission Statement and bylaws of the Des Moines Area Black Chamber
- Understand support and promote the Mission Statement of the Des Moines Area Black Chamber and cooperate with fellow members in the application of this Code of Business Conduct & Ethics
- Whenever reasonably possible, participate in the functions and activities of the Chamber, and promote the enhancement of black business growth in and around the Des Moines area
Failure to adhere to the professional and personal obligations of the Des Moines Area Black Chamber, as outlined above, and defined in the Chamber Bylaws, can result in the termination of membership.
